Travel Program 08/09

Attention all TRAVEL PARENTS

Now that the TRAVEL teams are established, we need a key component to make everything go smoothly for your player and their team - YOU!

If you would be interested in being your Team's Manager contact your coach. There is a mandatory information meeting at MONDAY, Sept. 8 at 7:00pm at Centennial Ice Arena. For more information, contact Larry Stolberg at stolberg@falconshockey.org or call him at 847-977-7377. This is an extremely important role and the seeding round scheduling meeting is coming up quickly.

Many teams have someone specific in charge of Team slush funds - expenses for tournaments and off-ice activities - a Team Accountant. If you would like to help in this capacity, let your Team Manager know you are interested.

Also, many teams have a Social Coordinator - a person who works with the Team Manager to have some off ice actiivities, coordinate team meals or schedules at tournaments. Tell your Team Manager if you like to party, and that this is the position for you!

Lastly, everyone want to see their player shine - SO, if you would like to be a Team Photographer contact your Team Manager or the Falcons Association Webmaster for details about how to show team spirit and post your fabulous players on our website!

There are many other ways to contribute that not only benefit your player and their team but our association as a whole. For more information of other ways to help, contact Julie Davis, VP Fundraising at fundraising@falconshockey.org or call her at 847-828-9793.

Have a great season everybody!

2008-2009 TRAVEL PROGRAM INFORMATION

The Falcons Travel Program is one of the most respected and successful hockey programs in Illinois. The Falcons Travel Program focuses on achieving a high degree of competitive success while developing the skills of its players. Travel teams are coached by professional hockey coaches, selected for their teaching and coaching abilities, leadership qualities, and dedication to youth hockey.

Players selected to participate on a Falcons Travel hockey team are expected to attend all scheduled practices and games. This time commitment is critical to the growth of the player and success of the team. Each Falcons Travel hockey player can plan on skating approximately 3-4 times per week. In addition, each Falcons Travel team competes in 2 out-of-town tournaments per season. The hockey season starts in mid-August and ends in early March.

In addition to the regularly scheduled practices/games, Travel hockey players are expected to attend an on-ice skills training session that will focus on power skating and individual skill development.

The Falcons Travel Program fields teams in the Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL) at the Bronze, Silver and Gold/Elite levels. Our top AA teams in 2008-2009 will compete at the Peewee, Bantam, and Midget levels in the Central States Developmental Hockey League (CSDHL), an elite Tier II league of teams.

Please carefully read the Team Participation Policy during the on-line registration process.  Please be sure to register your player with USA Hockey at http://www.usahockeyregistration.com/ prior to registering with the Falcons Hockey Association.

All parents are encouraged to attend the annual Falcons Fall Social fundraiser to be held November 1, 2008. It’s a great way to get to know the parents on your team, have some fun, and support the organization!
