It is with deepest sorrow that the Falcons Hockey Association announces the sudden passing away of Falcons Girls 16U player, Gina Bronge, on July 24, 2007. The entire hockey community is saddened and shocked by this news. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Bronge family during this difficult time.
Gina's strong work ethic, determination, leadership, energetic style of play, and constant smile will be missed by all of us. Gina was one of the original girls who skated with the Falcons during the 2003-04 season - the inaugural season for the Falcons Girls Hockey program. Anchoring the team's defense, Gina skated on two State Championship Blackhawk Cup teams with the Falcons in 2006, and again in 2007.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Gina Bronge Memorial Skate on Sunday, August 19th at Centennial Ice Arena. Over 250 people attended the skate and over $2,000 was raised for the Gina Bronge Memorial/Scholarship Fund. A HUGE thank you to The Choo Choo Restaurant for donating the hot dogs and chips, Sunset Foods for donating the soft drinks and Toffee Break Desserts for providing the sweet ending! Many thanks to the Falcons U16 Girls team and their families for their help in planning, setting up and working the event. A big thank you to the staff of Centennial Ice Arena for their help at the skate and for sponsoring the venue for this event. Check back here in the future for details about the 2nd Annual Gina Bronge Memorial Skate.
The Gina Bronge Memorial/Scholarship Fund is a fund that will award a scholarship on a yearly basis to a female hockey player who exemplifies characteristics similar to how Gina played this great sport. It is the intent of the Bronge family for the award recipient to use the scholarship money to pay for hockey camps or offset hockey fees.
An account has been set up at a local bank and donations can be sent to the
