GIRLS SPRING HOCKEY OPTIONS
Falcons will offer two options for Girls Hockey this Spring. For experienced girls hockey players, please sign up for the age appropriate to your level for either the North Shore League or Spring Clinic options above.
We will also likely have a U12 Girls team participate in the North Shore Spring League. We will consider other age groups if there is sufficient interest. Girls can attend both the clinics and play on a team if they wish.
If you are not sure of the clinic level you should attend or have an interest in playing on a North Shore League team this Spring, please contact girlshockey@falconshockey.org.
For those who are new to hockey and for our younger players (U8 and U10), the Falcons will offer a series of free weekly spring clinics Sundays from 12:40-1:40pm at Hot Shots Ice Arena starting Sunday, April 6. These clinics will focus on fun and skills and will be assisted by some of our experienced girls hockey players. You may also view the schedule on our website calendar - go to Calendar, open the "Tags" menu, scroll down to Spring Clinics and select "Free Girls Clinic" which will populate the claendar with the clinic dates. There will be no preregistration, just come to Hot shots the day of the clinic, register and play! For more information, please contact girlshockey@falconshockey.org.
Way to go U12 Girls!
The U12s won the Dells Waterpark Classic over MLK weekend - first win for this team beating Evanston in the championship 5-4 in OT.
If you are interested in learning more about what's available, please contact VP Girls Program, John Newtown at girlshockey@falconshockey.org
As details become available for the upcoming season, they will be posted here and in the TEAM section as needed. Please check back regularly. We encourage you to sign in on our site so you can stay informed through our email information system.
The Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI) allows female hockey players to “double rosterâ€. Female players may be rostered on one Girls (19U, 16U, 14U, 12U, 10U, 8U) team and one “Youth†team, unlike boys who are limited to one team. In this case, the “Youth†team could be a TIER II travel team or a House League team. Dual rostering is meant to provide supplemental development opportunities and to assist in developing female teams.
Blackhawk Cup State Playoffs and Tournament
Dual rostered 8U or 10U girls may play in the state playoffs for BOTH teams.
Girls playing on a 12U, 14U, 16U or 19U team and a TIER II travel team may only play in ONE state playoff tournament. These girls must declare, in writing to the AHAI registrar, by December 31st, of their intent to play in the Girls Division of the Blackhawk Cup.
It is the policy of the Falcons Girls Program to require all rostered players on the Girls 12U and older teams to MAKE THE GIRLS TEAM their first priority for the Blackhawk Cup tournament.
